Große Manöver bei der traditionalistischen Rechten: Rund um den Fall Bose
In der klösterlichen Kommunität von Bose ist nichts Schlimmes passiert. Ihre solide und konstruktive gemeinschaftliche Wirklichkeit bedurfte keiner so dramatischen, gebieterischen Intervention seitens des Vatikans. Die innerhalb der Kommunität normal auftretenden Probleme finden in einem ebenso normalen Dialog ihre Lösung. Das wirkliche Problem ist eher die Anmaßung, mit der der Vatikan eingegriffen hat: Unterschiedslos allen Gläubigen, vor allem denjenigen, die innerhalb der katholischen Kirche und weit darüber hinaus in Bose einen positiven Bezugspunkt für ein an dem Evangelium orientiertes gemeinschaftliches Leben fanden, wurde dadurch schweres Leid zugefügt.
Was denke ich eigentlich darüber?
Ich bin der Meinung, man hat Papst Franziskus in einem besonders gebrechlichen, widersprüchlichen Moment seines Amtes mit einbeziehen wollen. Ganz offensichtlich ist hierbei eine Verschwörung der reaktionärsten katholischen Rechten im Gange, die versucht, die neueste Phase von Papst Franziskus‘ Pontifikat zu destabilisieren. Zu diesem Zwecke wird jeder auch lokale Vorfall dazu benutzt, Bestürzung und Verwirrung rund um Franziskus zu stiften.
Von Häresie oder Dissens gibt es in Bose keinen Schatten. Etwas ganz anderes steht auf dem Spiel: Hauptakteure sind die sich rasant ausbreitenden katholischen und politischen Rechten sowie die kuriale Rechte mit ihren vielen Intrigen und Fallen. Diese Rechte hat bereits einige Runde gewonnen, wie beispielweise die Wiederzulassung der tridentinischen Messe, die Ablässe, die Unterdrückung und Zurückweisung der besten Forderungen der Panamazonischen Synode sowie das totale NEIN zur Frauenordination. Aber ein weiteres Anliegen dieser Rechten ist es, zu verhindern, dass die deutsche und die australische Synode eine wesentliche Erneuerung des priesterlichen Amtes hinsichtlich des Einsatzes von „bewährten Männern“ (viri probati) und Frauen zum Ausdruck bringen. In der Tat wollen Sie Papst Franziskus klarmachen, er soll die geringste Öffnung nicht wagen. Diese reaktionären Rechten stellen sich zum Ziel, das II. Vatikanisches Konzil vollständig zu begraben und die gesamte katholische Kirche auf der doktrinären, disziplinären sowie ministeriellen Ebene auf das Konzil von Trient zurückzubringen. Es ist uns vielleicht wenig bewusst, wie breit dieses Netzwerk von Traditionalisten, Souveränisten, Fundamentalisten und Faszisten im sozialen und kirchlichen Gefüge ist. Finanziell gefördert durch die schäbigsten Bewegungen gefördert, wie etwa den „Family Day“, verfügen sie über sehr viel Geld und äußerst mächtige Kommunikationsmedien und sind nunmehr in allen Diözesen vertreten.
In diesem Zusammenhang finden die großen Manöver der Kardinalen statt. Sie stehen unter dem Motto: „Wir sollen besser bereit sein“. Sie besprechen sich und entwickeln Pläne für das nächste Konklave. Sie wissen noch zu warten, aber ihr Netzwerk wächst. Es ist für sie wichtig, dass der Anti-Papst Ratzinger als Bezugspunkt bzw. als Inspiration für die Manöver um die Nachfolge im Vatikan bleibt. Für eine ausführliche Dokumentation dieser ganzen anti-evangelischen Aktivität möchte ich bitten, in Confronti 4-5-6 vom Jahre 2020 die Studien von Luigi Sandri nachzulesen.
Und wir – was können wir tun?
Über das in Bose Geschehene sind wir tief betrübt. Unsere Nähe gilt der Gemeinschaft und Enzo Bianchi, deren biblisches und ökumenisches Engagement wir immer trotz Divergenzen bezüglich der großen Themen der Christologie sehr geschätzt haben.
Wir müssen darum bitten und dringend fordern, dass Joseph Ratzinger – die wirkliche Schande unserer Kirche – aus dem Vatikan ausgewiesen wird, damit er aufhört, als Inspirator und Förderer reaktionärer Projekte Unruhe zu stiften. Dabei sollte er in respektvollster Weise wegen Komplizenschaft bei der Vertuschung des Missbrauchs von Minderjährigen unter Hausarrest gestellt werden. Jemand wird sich an einen Brief erinnern, in dem ich vor eben sieben Jahren und zwei Monaten meine Vorahnung äußerte über den Schaden, die ein Anti-Papst der Kirche zufügen würde.
Lassen wir uns nicht deprimieren. Diese perfiden Manöver können das Licht und die Kraft des Evangeliums nicht auslöschen. Jener Gott, von dem Jesus uns Zeugnis gegeben hat, drängt uns, über die Macht dieser Wachhunde der tridentinischen Orthodoxie hinaus nach vorne zu schauen und unser demütiges Zeugnis „von unten“ fortzusetzen.
Ich wiederhole es hier nochmals nachdrücklich: „von unten“. Wenn wir erwarten, dass die Kirche von einem Thron wiedergeboren wird, dann machen wir uns nur etwas vor. Es liegt an uns zu glauben, dass Gott prophetische Frauen und Männer hervorbringt, die bereits in unserer Mitte sind und uns dazu auffordern, mit Vertrauen in die Zukunft zu gehen.

Great Maneuvers in the Traditionalist Right: Thinking About the Case of Bose and its Context
Nothing serious happened in the monastic community of Bose. The reality of its solid and constructive community life did not need such a bombastic and imperious Vatican intervention. Normal problems arising within the community find their solution through normal dialogue.
The real problem is the overbearingness with which the Vatican has intervened. This is causing serious suffering to everyone indiscriminately and especially to those Christians who, both within the Catholic Church and far beyond its borders, found in Bose a positive touchstone of a Gospel-oriented community life.
What is my opinion?
I think there was a deliberate intention to involve Pope Francis in the case at an especially fragile and conflicting moment of his ministry. It is very evident: there is an ongoing conspiration of the more reactionary Catholic right-wing groups running against the pontificate of Pope Francis in an attempt to destabilize its most recent phase. Every incident, even the local ones, are used to create bewilderment and confusion around Francis.
There is not a shadow of heresy or dissent at Bose. It is a totally different game and quite other matters are at stake. Its main actors are the rapidly growing Catholic and political right-wing movements and the curial right with its many intrigues and pitfalls. This right has already won some matches, such as with the readmission of the Tridentine liturgy, the indulgences, the suppression and rejection of the foremost claims of the Panamazonic Synod and the total NO to the ministerial ordination of women. But in addition, these right-wing fractions aim to preventing the German and Australian Synods from expressing a substantial claim for renewal with regard to the ministry of both the so-called “men of proven virtue” (viri probati) and women.
Basically, they want to make it clear to Pope Francis that he should not dare a single gesture opening up any of these possibilities. These reactionary right-wind groups want to completely bury the outcomes of Vatican Council II, bringing the whole Catholic Church back to the Council of Trent in terms of doctrine, discipline, and ministries.
Perhaps we do not quite realize how vast this network of traditionalists, sovereignists, fundamentalists, and fascists reaches in the social and ecclesial fabric. With the financial support of sleazy pro-family movements (like the organizers of the “Family Day”), they have a great deal of money as well as truly powerful means of communication at their disposal. By now, they are present in all dioceses.

They can still wait, but the network is growing. It is important for them that the anti-Pope Ratzinger remains in the Vatican as a point of reference and as an inspirer of the maneuvers for succession. And what can we do about it?
We are in deep sorrow about it. We want to show our closeness to the community of Bose and to Enzo Bianchi. We have always appreciated their biblical and ecumenical commitment in spite of divergent positions on several main Christological topics.
We must ask and demand that Joseph Ratzinger – the real disgrace of our Church the real disgrace be removed from the Vatican, so that he stops making trouble as an inspiring spinner of reactionary projects. Moreover, he should also be made individually responsible for the crimes of complicity in covering up the abuse of minors and placed in the most respectfully way under house arrest. Someone will remember that 7 years and two months ago I wrote a letter expressing my premonitory concerns about the damages that an anti-pope would do to the church.
Let us not allow ourselves to be depressed. These treacherous maneuvers cannot overshadow the light and strength of the Gospel. The God that Jesus bore witness to urges us to look ahead beyond the power of these watchdogs of the Tridentine orthodoxy and to continue from below our humble testimony.
4) I want to reiterate and reaffirm these words: “from below”! If we expect the church to be reborn from a throne, we are just being delusional... It is up to us to believe that God awakens prophetic women and men who are already in our midst, inviting us to walk with confidence towards the future.
